Succession is one of the rare TV programs that unite people from all over the world.
Following billionaire Roy and his dysfunctional children, who spend their days stabbing one other in the back in an effort to become the new CEO of their family’s global media empire, is the hit HBO drama, which may also be described as a satirical black comedy.
The third season entered “full beast mode,” with son Kendall’s attempt to overthrow his father being broadcast on television.
Sadly, Kendall’s demise was also broadcast on television.
By the time the season three finale debuted in December 2021, the writers had completely unraveled the plot with a spectacular ending that left viewers begging for explanations.
Regrettably, we must wait and be patient.
As we lay down all you need to know about Succession season four, grab your portfolio and get ready to go “full beast mode” on yourself. There are many meetings today; you might want to postpone some of them.
Succession Season 4 Release Date
The fourth season of Succession will finally be released in the UK on Monday, March 27. The new season will debut on Sky Atlantic in this country and on HBO in the US a day earlier (on March 26).
Following a hazy spring release window provided back in October during a brief (but extremely dramatic) teaser that appeared during House of the Dragon’s season-one finale on HBO, the news has put an end to a lot of conjecture about when it could be.

The first two seasons debuted on HBO in the summers of 2018 and 2019, respectively, but the pandemic delayed the start of season three. It consequently debuted in October 2021. So, the show’s fourth season release date in March represents yet another significant adjustment.
Jesse Armstrong, the show’s executive producer, provided an update on the status of season four when speaking with Digital Spy and other media at the BAFTA TV Awards back in May: “With the American authors visiting London, we are nearly finished penning season four.
They’re a really excellent bunch to discuss the intricacies of the characters, the setting, and what we’re doing on the show.
When the show would end was another question that was posed to him.
I won’t respond to that question specifically, he said. “That shouldn’t go on indefinitely, in my opinion. But right now, we’re still having a good time.”
Georgia Pritchett, the show’s executive producer, recently told The Times that the show would end after a possible fifth season: “I think the maximum would be five seasons, but perhaps more like four.” Could this actually be it?
Succession Season 4 Plot
The 10-episode fourth season’s official synopsis, which was made public in June 2022, stated: “In the 10-episode fourth season, the sale of media giant Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson gets increasingly closer. When the Roys envision what their life would be like after the sale is completed, the possibility of this seismic sale causes existential turmoil and familial discord.
As the family considers a future in which their influence in culture and politics will be significantly reduced, a power struggle emerges.
Even with this succinct explanation, it should be clear that Succession season four can only mean one thing: all-out conflict inside the family and business unit.

Having sold out his family and agreed to a buyout of Waystar Royco, Logan will no longer have a significant part of what keeps him going. What will he do in its place, then? His super-shrewd decision to sell Waystar to Matsson might not have been as successful as he had anticipated.
What will happen to Shiv, Roman, and Kendall now that they have no one else to rely on but one another to get them through this difficult time in their lives?
Their most important other has let down all the major players. Her battered husband Tom has finally gotten even with Shiv and abandoned her in the ocean, though he is unaware that she is dead. She won’t take that treachery lying down, we’re pretty sure… though she might plan a long-term revenge strategy.
For Roman, Gerri, the lone person whom he seems to have confided, has abandoned him for her own reasons. Then there is Kendall, whose mental stability is clinging to him by the thinnest of threads.
The siblings will need to devise their next power play before it’s too late in season four. It will be messy in either case.
On the plus side, it appears there will be one cause for celebration (if you choose to see it that way) since it appears Connor will wed Willa Ferreyra, his reluctant partner. Good luck with that one.
Jeremy Strong’s New Yorker interview, in which the distinction between the actor and the character he plays on the program became a little hazy, is another example of how Succession’s art occasionally imitates life.
Strong declared, “To me, the stakes are life and death.” “I take my own life and [Kendall] equally seriously.”
Regrettably, the post sparked a lot of online mockeries, and some famous people came forward to defend the actor. One of them was Cox.
The entire thing was “Jeremy’s idea,” Cox told Deadline. “You know, he pushed for it despite repeated cautions from others. It sort of lifted him up, which I thought was unfortunate.
“He should never have taken that route, in my opinion, as playing Kendall has made him extremely exposed.
He performs what he does exceptionally well, but it is also draining. It is particularly exhausting for him, but occasionally it is also exhausting for the rest of us. Although there is a double-edged sword that comes with it, we endure it because we love him and because the results of what he accomplishes are always fantastic. I simply want to say how much I appreciate Jeremy as an actor and how much I wish him the best. I believe he endures a great deal of agony. He actually causes suffering by playing the part he does. That might not be helpful, but he is.
“I just feel for the sadness that lies at the heart of Jeremy because there is some degree of it. I believe that he puts himself in precarious situations, and with the New Yorker article, he put himself in a precarious situation that he didn’t need to be in.”
Nicholas Braun, who plays Greg Hirsch in the television series Succession, has also hinted at forthcoming season four stories involving Tom Wambsgans, played by Matthew Macfadyen.
By accusing Logan’s kids of scheming against him all along, Greg’s mentor Tom threw Logan’s kids under the bus at the conclusion of season three, forcing Logan to let his kids out of corporate custody.
Greg “shifts into another gear” because “he and Tom have a new frequency,” according to Braun, who spoke to Deadline.
In response to Tom’s behaviour in season three, Greg reportedly had “such a release Take me to the dark side, he says. He portrays Greg, a fear-based character who always wonders if his actions are right or wrong. It appears that the following chapter is “Let’s go!””
There is a popular fan theory that goes into Russian history and claims that Cousin Greg will be the one to give Tom his (inevitable and well-deserved) comeuppance.
What does Succession’s future hold after season four, specifically?
Back in September 2022, Cox told The Times, “I don’t know.” “Nobody’s contracts have been renewed. Who can predict how long it will last? We don’t want it to linger until its expiration date like [Showtime’s] Billions; that would be unwelcome. Our performance will prevent it from happening.”
Succession Season 4 Cast
Given that the family is currently at war, you should anticipate the return of all the key players (assuming nothing happens to jeopardize that behind the scenes).
The big guy himself (Brian Cox), friends Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen) and Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun), as well as his longtime business next-in-commands Gerri (J Smith Cameron), Frank (Peter Friedman), and Karl, appear to make up Team Logan at this time (David Rasche).
Another unexpected inclusion is his ex-wife Caroline (Harriet Walter), who in the season three finale sold out her kids.
Then there is the new group, which consists of Roman, Shiv (Jeremy Strong), and Kendall (Kieran Culkin).
The decision of the oldest son, Connor (Alan Ruck), is still up in the air, but at least he will be accompanied by Willa (Justine Lupe), his new fiancée.
Also confirmed is Alexander Skarsgrd’s portrayal of Lukas Mattson, which makes sense given the complete chaos he has caused the family.
Other familiar faces include Stewy Hosseini from season one, a recurring character played by Arian Moayed; Jess Jordan, Kendall Roy’s assistant; Naomi Pierce, Kendall’s media heiress love interest; Justin Kirk, who played the controversial Congressman Jeryd Mencken in season three; and Stephen Root, who played Ron Petkus.
Furthermore announced is Dagmara Domiczyk’s return to the Waystar Royco PR team as Karolina Novotney.
Succession Season 4 Trailer
The first glimpse shows Roman, Shiv, and Kendall unsuccessfully attempting to get in touch with their father as Tom wonders how his unexpected decision from the season three finale will influence his marriage to Shiv.
When Gerri warns them that they “cannot win,” Shiv replies, hinting that the trio is preparing their retaliation: “This is not about getting back at Dad, but if it bothers him it doesn’t concern me.”
Every move is important because this is a chessboard, Tom continues.
Look for the official trailer online at the end of February because it normally becomes available about a month before the scheduled release.
You’ll have to wait till then, just like the Roy children, to obtain what you deserve.
But till then, f**k off, as Logan would say!
(We’re only joking. Keep checking in, and we’ll let you know as soon as we have any updates!
