Plot:
Set during the turbulent Northern and Southern Dynasties period, Northern Wei Dynasty tells a powerful story of loss, ambition, and transformation. The fall of the Northern Yan dynasty at the hands of Northern Wei leaves Princess Feng Zhui devastated, her life driven by grief and revenge. With her homeland destroyed, she places all her hopes on her niece, Feng Yan Er—once a noble princess, now reduced to slavery.
Fate takes an unexpected turn when Tuoba Jun ascends the throne as Emperor Wen Cheng. Feng Yan Er is brought into the palace and eventually rises to become empress, placing her at the center of imperial power. What begins as a calculated move toward revenge slowly evolves into a journey of survival and self-discovery.
After the emperor’s death, Feng Yan Er’s role becomes even more significant. Surrounded by political unrest and rebellion, she steps forward not just as a survivor but as a leader. She suppresses uprisings, stabilizes the royal court, and begins to shift her focus beyond personal vengeance.
As time passes, her perspective changes. Rather than restoring her fallen dynasty, she works toward strengthening Northern Wei itself. She advocates for ethnic integration, promotes cultural exchange, and implements reforms inspired by the traditions of the Central Plains. Her leadership transforms the empire and redefines her legacy.
At its core, Northern Wei Dynasty is not just a story of revenge—it is a story about growth, identity, and the power of choosing unity over hatred. Feng Yan Er’s journey from a broken survivor to a visionary empress makes this drama both emotionally compelling and historically rich.

Yang Mi
Yang Mi is one of China’s most celebrated actresses, known for her strong screen presence and ability to portray emotionally layered characters. She gained widespread recognition through hit dramas such as Eternal Love, The Long Ballad, and Love Designer. Over the years, she has built a reputation for taking on both modern and historical roles with equal finesse.
In Northern Wei Dynasty, she delivers a challenging dual-performance-like role, portraying both Feng Zhui and Feng Yan Er. Her character’s transformation—from a revenge-driven royal to a wise and powerful empress—requires emotional depth and complexity, making this one of her most anticipated performances.
Liu Xue Yi
