Story

Set in China during the mid-1200s, The New Version of the Condor Heroes follows Yang Guo, the orphaned son of the late Yang Kang, a man remembered as a traitor to the Han people and a sworn pact brother of the Prince of Jin. Growing up without his parents, Yang Guo becomes clever, street-smart, and determined to master the martial arts, hoping that becoming a powerful fighter will help him find his place in the world.

However, Yang Guo struggles to find a proper martial arts master who can guide him. His life changes when he encounters Xiao Long Nu, a mysterious and highly skilled young martial arts expert. Cold, distant, and seemingly uninterested in forming connections, Xiao Long Nu initially keeps Yang Guo at arm’s length. Despite their differences, she eventually takes him under her guidance and begins teaching him martial arts.

As they spend more time together, their relationship slowly develops from that of teacher and student into a deep emotional bond. Their feelings eventually blossom into love, but their romance is considered forbidden because martial arts teachers are not permitted to have romantic relationships with their students. Forced to face the judgment of the martial arts world, Yang Guo and Xiao Long Nu must decide whether their love is strong enough to overcome the rules and traditions standing between them.

At the same time, Yang Guo discovers disturbing information about his father’s death. He begins to suspect that Guo Jing, the man who once sent him away from his home and was also one of Yang Kang’s closest allies, may have played a role in his father’s tragic fate. Yang Guo also becomes suspicious of Huang Rong, believing that she may have been involved in the events surrounding Yang Kang’s death. Consumed by questions about his father’s past, Yang Guo begins considering revenge.

Yet his growing mastery of martial arts creates a difficult conflict within him. Although he now possesses the skills to confront those he believes responsible, Yang Guo does not want to become the kind of person who uses power for immoral purposes. His desire for justice and revenge constantly clashes with the principles he has learned from Xiao Long Nu.

While Yang Guo struggles with his personal conflicts and forbidden love, a much greater danger begins threatening the entire realm. Mongol forces are advancing, bringing war and destruction closer to the people of China. As the sound of galloping horses grows louder from the steppes, the martial arts world is forced to confront a threat far greater than individual rivalries and personal grudges.

Caught between love, revenge, loyalty, and duty, Yang Guo must decide what kind of man he wants to become. With Xiao Long Nu by his side and war approaching, his journey is about to become far more dangerous than he ever imagined.
