A narrative that follows the physicians working in a brand-new intensive care unit (EICU) as they use their medical knowledge to try and save the lives of their patients. They put aside their disagreements and devote their hearts and souls to the cause of life preservation.

Having suffered the loss of her beloved while she was away, Xiao Yan arrives at Tongshan Hospital carrying the pains of having returned from overseas. On the surface, Xiao Yan comes off as rough and unyielding; but, once she is at the operating table, she is incredibly precise and performs procedures with the accuracy of a machine.

Bai Shu, who was formerly a revered physician, takes on the care of a dying patient and gradually comes to believe that one can discover hope even in the worst of circumstances. Two individuals, each with their own set of beliefs and their own set of preconceived notions about the other, might gradually grow to accept one another through the course of their everyday contact as they find many things in common with one another.
