Biography

Janhvi Kapoor is an Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi films. She was born on March 6, 1997. She made her acting debut in 2018 with the love drama Dhadak, which was a commercial hit. Her parents are Sridevi and Boney Kapoor. As a result of her performance as the titular aviator in the biopic Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Kapoor was eventually considered for a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (2020).

Early life

Janhvi Kapoor into the world on March 6th, 1997. Her father is Boney Kapoor, who is also the founder of the Anil Kapoor Films Company and the son of the late director Surinder Kapoor. Surinder Kapoor was also a filmmaker. Actress Sridevi, known as the “First Female Superstar” of Indian cinema and one of the country’s most prominent actors, is her mother. She herself is an actress. She is the niece of the actor Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, who both have careers in the film industry.

Her father was previously married, therefore she also has two half-siblings from her father’s first marriage: actor Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. Her younger sister’s name is Khushi. When Kapoor was just 21 years old, her mother was discovered dead from an apparent drowning accident in her hotel room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She had been a visitor there.

In Mumbai, Kapoor received his education at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School. Her training in acting began at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in California, where she attended before making her debut in the film industry.

Career

In 2018, Kapoor made her debut as an actress in the romantic drama Dhadak, which was directed by Shashank Khaitan and also starred Ishaan Khatter. It was a remake of the Marathi film Sairat that came out in 2016, and it starred her as a young woman from an affluent family whose life takes a terrible turn after she runs away with a lad from a lower social level (played by Khatter). Although it was met with a majority of poor reviews, the movie was a commercial success, as evidenced by its worldwide collection of 1.1 billion yen.

Rajeev Masand, in an article he wrote for News18, criticized the film for omitting caste-based references and judged it to be less good than the original. However, he praised Kapoor for having “a fragility that makes her instantly endearing, and a soulful quality that makes it hard to take your eyes off of her on-screen.” On the other hand, Anna M. M. Vetticad of Firstpost was of the opinion that she “lacks individuality and delivers a colorless performance.”  She was given the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut. She was the recipient of this honor. In the same year, the beauty products company Nykaa chose Kapoor to represent them as their official brand ambassador.
