Will Jared Leto’s live vampire make an appearance?

Morbius 2 has yet to be confirmed by Sony, and it doesn’t appear to be definite.

Despite a strong start, Morbius bombed at the box office, grossing only $167.5 million worldwide, and even a re-release (after it became the topic of numerous memes) couldn’t save the film.

Matt Smith was unconcerned with the film’s poor performance. “After all, we’re not saving lives with this film. It didn’t exactly work out for whatever reason, and… That is what it is “In August 2022, he stated.

Of course, if Sony wants a sequel, it may happen, and the first film certainly hints at a sequel – and we’re not just talking about the possibility of a Spider-Man crossover.

So here’s all you need to know about a possible Morbius 2, but be warned: there will be significant Morbius spoilers ahead.

Morbius 2 Release Date

As previously said, Morbius 2 has yet to be confirmed, hence no official release date has been set.

Sony has a busy couple of years ahead of it with its Marvel projects, beginning with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on June 2, 2023, so it’s difficult to see where the sequel fits in right now.

Kraven the Hunter, another Spider-Man spin-off, is planned to arrive on October 6, 2023, followed by El Muerto on January 12, 2024, and Madame Web on February 16, 2024. There will also be an untitled but confirmed Venom 3 sequel.

Even if it is confirmed, it seems likely that we will have to wait until at least 2024 for Morbius 2. We’ll keep you updated if we hear anything.

Morbius 2 Cast

Because Morbius 2 has yet to be announced, there have been no formal casting announcements, but we believe we can safely predict that Jared Leto will reprise his role as Dr Michael Morbius.

Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, who has now been changed into a vampire, will most likely join him (more on that in a bit). Milo (Matt Smith) and Dr. Nicholas (Jared Harris) will not return, as they are both properly slain in Morbius.

Tyrese Gibson’s Simon Stroud is a common nemesis to Morbius in the comics, so we’d anticipate him to return, along with Al Madrigal as Stroud’s FBI sidekick Alberto Rodriguez. Gibson has a three-film deal, so Stroud could appear elsewhere as well.

Adrian Toomes, played by Michael Keaton, appeared in the Morbius credit scenes, thus assuming he isn’t sent back to the MCU, he’ll most likely be returning for the sequel. Toomes suggests a collaboration with Morbius, which opens up Sinister Six possibilities.

Might a sequel have Morbius teaming up with (or opposing) Tom Holland’s Spider-Man or Tom Hardy’s Venom? Everything is technically possible, but whether it occurs remains to be seen.

Director Daniel Espinosa is keeping mum about which Spider-Man lives in this reality, despite many assuming it could be Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.

“There are individuals at Sony who would have me shot if I said anything because it would compel them to commit to something,” he joked to IGN. “I have ideas and opinions, and they’re in the film, and that’s what I’m striving for.”

He has confirmed the existence of a Spider-Man in this realm, and with Holland’s Spidey remaining in the MCU, it could be anyone.

Morbius 2 Plot

Morbius 2 might take up on two crucial plot threads: Martine Bancroft’s ‘death’ and Vulture’s Sinister Six tease.

Let us begin with Martine. Milo kidnaps Martine in order to entice Morbius into a confrontation with him, and just before Morbius comes, Milo fatally attacks Martine, leaving her to die for him to find.

Morbius drinks from Martine to make her death “mean something,” and we presume that’s the last of her. But, after Morbius beats Milo and kills him with the antibodies he made, we return to Martine’s body on the rooftop and watch her open her eyes.

Martine endures such a change, both into a living vampire like Morbius and into a “Real Vampire,” which is more in accordance with classic vampires.

It’s unclear which vampire Martine has become, but it means trouble for the lovers because in the comics, Martine meets a tragic end when Morbius is forced to kill her to prevent her from biting Spider-Man.

Arjona isn’t sure what the future holds for her character, but she’s curious to find out.

“Now that she’s changed her mind, I’m curious whether she’ll lean more towards good or evil. Or does she struggle to find a happy medium? What becomes of her? I’m simply intrigued. I’m just as intrigued as the audience will be “She told The Hollywood Reporter about it.

The first film drew influence from comic books rather than being a direct adaptation of any single story. If a sequel is made, we anticipate that it will be influenced by the comics again, but will otherwise be an original plot.

Now for the second key story aspect that has been left hanging. Vulture suggests to Morbius that a “bunch of us guys should team up” in the credits. He suggests they “do some good,” but we suspect he means more sinister activities as the Sinister Six.

Morbius contains no additional appearances by established villains or antiheroes like as Tom Hardy’s Venom or Michael Mando’s Scorpion. This implies we don’t know who will make up this universe’s version of the supervillain squad.

With Morbius already established and Kraven the Hunter getting his own film, expect more crossovers in a Morbius 2 sequel. It may end up being more of a team-up film, a la Captain America: Civil War, than a direct Morbius sequel.

According to Espinosa, if Sony wanted to make a twist on the Sinister Six, Norman Osborn would be a natural fit for a team-up with Morbius. “There are alternative options because it’s been made for so long,” he added.

“What Kevin Feige made so fantastic for me was the way they took many of the mythologies and chose different elements of them, as well as the realization that it doesn’t have to start exactly how the comics started.”

Morbius 2 Trailer

No, the film has yet to be confirmed. Here’s the official trailer for the first installment.
