Biography

Marilyn Manson is the stage name of Brian Hugh Warner (born January 5, 1969), an American singer, songwriter, actor, painter, and writer best known for his work as Marilyn Manson.

When he is not performing, he is recognized for his controversial stage presence and image as the lead vocalist of the band of the same name. He co-founded the band with guitarist Daisy Berkowitz in 1989 and remains its only permanent member to this day.

His stage name, like the names of the other founding members of the band, was created by combining and contrasting the names of two opposing American cultural icons: a sex symbol and an infamous criminal; in Manson’s case, actress Marilyn Monroe and cult leader Charles Manson, respectively.

When combined with his public image, Manson is best known for his music from the 1990s, including the albums Portrait of an American Family (1994), Antichrist Superstar (1996), and Mechanical Animals (1998), which earned him a reputation in mainstream media as a controversial figure and a negative influence on young people.

For example, three of the band’s albums have been certified platinum in the United States, while three more have been certified gold. The band has also had eight records in the top ten charts, including two number one albums. Manson is placed No. 44 on Hit Parader’s list of the “Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists,” and he and his band have been nominated for four Grammy Awards–Manson himself received an additional Grammy nomination for his work on Kanye West’s Donda, which was released in 2012.

Manson made his feature film debut in David Lynch’s Lost Highway (1997), and he has subsequently starred in a number of supporting roles and cameo appearances in other films. His debut art show, The Golden Age of Grotesque, was held at the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions Center in 2002. He has since had several more shows.

In 2021, a number of women accused Manson of abusing them psychologically and sexually, claims that he has categorically rejected them.

Early life

Brian Hugh Warner was born on January 5, 1969,[6] in Canton, Ohio, to Barbara Warner Wyer (who died on May 13, 2014) and Hugh Angus Warner. He was the only son of Barbara Warner Wyer (who died on May 13, 2014) and Hugh Angus Warner (died July 7, 2017).

He is descended from English, German, and Irish ancestors. 10 He has also claimed that his mother, whose family originated in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, was of Sioux descent. Warner grew up attending his mother’s Episcopal church, despite the fact that his father was a practicing Roman Catholic.

During his first through tenth grades, he attended Heritage Christian School in North Carolina. During his time at that school, his instructors attempted to teach the youngsters about music that they were not supposed to listen to; Warner soon became fascinated by what he “wasn’t supposed to do.” Warner went on to attend GlenOak High School, where he graduated in 1987 with a diploma in hand.

Upon relocating with his parents, he began attending Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1990, where he graduated in 1992. He was pursuing a degree in journalism at the time, and he was obtaining practical experience in the area by writing articles for the music publication 25th Parallel.

Additionally, he conducted interviews with musicians and soon met several of the musicians to whom his own work would later be compared, including Groovie Mann of My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, the latter of whom would go on to serve as his mentor and help him produce his debut album.

Career

The band was created in 1989 by Warner and guitarist Scott Putesky, with Warner authoring the lyrics and Putesky composing most of the music for the majority of the songs. In 1990, Warner adopted the stage name Marilyn Manson and, with a rotating lineup of musicians, recorded the band’s first demo tape, which was released under the name Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids.

Initially gaining popularity in the South Florida punk and hardcore music scenes, the group quickly gained a dedicated following primarily as a result of their intentionally shocking concerts; band members frequently donned women’s clothing or bizarre costumes, and live shows routinely included amateur pyrotechnics, naked women nailed to crucifixes, children locked in cages, as well as experiments in reverse psychology and butchered animal remains.

Within six months of founding, they were performing to sold-out crowds in nightclubs with capacities of 300 people or more throughout Florida. Their first record deal was with Sony Music in the spring of 1991, but the agreement was terminated before any material was recorded for the label. Instead, the band used the money they received from this arrangement to support the creation of the following demo tapes, which were then published on their own timetable.

When Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) was released, it represented a return to the band’s industrial metal roots following their glam-influenced previous album, Mechanical Animals.

It was also the vocalist’s response to media coverage accusing him as a factor in the Columbine High School massacre, which took place on April 20, 1999. The album was a commercial and critical success, with various magazines hailing it as the band’s best work to that point.

Despite having shipped more than half a million units in the United States, mainstream media publicly questioned the band’s commercial appeal, pointing to the dominance of nu metal and problematic hip hop acts such as Eminem as reasons for their doubt. In 2002, a cover version of “Tainted Love” became an international smash, reaching the top of the charts in various countries.

The following year, The Golden Age of Grotesque was released, an album that was primarily inspired by the swing and burlesque movements of 1920s Berlin, as well as other influences.

On several occasions throughout the recording, Manson used an elaborate metaphor to connect his own, much-condemned work to the Entartete Kunst, which was prohibited by the Nazi regime.

The Golden Age of Grotesque, like Mechanical Animals in 1998, opened at the top of the Billboard 200, but it was the lowest-selling studio album to debut at the top of the chart that year, selling only 527,000 copies in the United States as of 2008.

Nevertheless, the album was more successful in Europe, where it sold more than 400,000 copies in its first week of release, propelling it to the top of the Billboard European Top 100 Albums chart.

During this time period, Manson began working with French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, who was responsible for most of the lavish clothing worn by the band on the “Grotesk Burlesk Tour,” which supported the album’s release. Lest We Forget: The Best of was released in 2004 and is the greatest hits collection of classics by various artists.

In addition to his work with Marilyn Manson and the Black Dahlia Murder, Manson has done a substantial collaboration with other musicians.

Rasputina, a cello rock band from the United Kingdom, toured with the band throughout the “Dead to the World Tour,” which was a controversial tour in support of Antichrist Superstar.

The band’s lead vocalist, Melora Creager, played cello and provided backing vocals for them, most notably during renditions of “Apple of Sodom,” a live version of which was released as a b-side on Manson’s 1998 single “The Dope Show.”

Aside from the original song, Manson also recorded three remixes of the song “Transylvanian Concubine,” two of which were included on their 1997 album Transylvanian Regurgitations.

Manson became friends with The Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman Billy Corgan in 1997, and the two bands collaborated on performances of “Eye” and “The Beautiful People” at the Bridge School Benefit Concert in 1997.

During the early stages of the recording of Mechanical Animals, Manson communicated often with Corgan. In response to the incorporation of glam rock inspirations, Corgan told Manson that the album should be avoided “This is unquestionably the right approach,” but it is important to “take it all the way.” Don’t just make a passing reference to it “….. In 2015, Marilyn Manson and the Smashing Pumpkins embarked on a co-headlining tour dubbed “The End Times Tour,” which was a collaboration between the two bands.

In 1998, in support of Mechanical Animals, the band embarked on their first co-headlining concert tour, the “Beautiful Monsters Tour,” which featured Hole as support.

Manson and Hole vocalist Courtney Love routinely insulted one another on stage and in interviews during the tour’s first leg, which was problematic.

As a result of Hole unintentionally subsidizing the majority of Manson’s production expenditures, which were disproportionately costly in comparison to Hole’s, private financial issues also occurred.

The tour was scheduled to include thirty-seven shows, but Hole only made it to the first nine. Following the cancellation of Hole’s performance on the tour, it was renamed the “Rock Is Dead Tour,” with Jack Off Jill announced as one of the support bands. Many of Jack Off Jill’s early demo recordings were produced by Manson, who later provided the liner notes for their 2006 compilation Humid Teenage Mediocrity 1992–1996, which was released in conjunction with the band’s 20th anniversary.

In 1997, Manson made his feature film debut as a supporting actor in David Lynch’s Lost Highway. After that he has appeared in a number of minor roles or cameos, including Party Monster, the 1999 film Jawbreaker, Asia Argento’s 2004 film The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, Rise, the sixth installment in the BMW film series Beat the Devil, and Showtime’s comedy-drama TV series Californication, where he played himself.

He has also appeared in a number of short films, including The Hire: Beat the Devil, which was released in 2013. Meanwhile, he made guest appearances on HBO’s Eastbound & Down, a show that Manson is said to be a long-time admirer of and had fought to have him appear on for years; and the ABC television series Once Upon a Time, in which he voiced the character “Shadow.”

He was interviewed for Michael Moore’s political documentary Bowling for Columbine (2002), in which he discussed possible causes for the Columbine massacre, as well as charges that his music was somehow connected to the tragedy.

On MTV, he has appeared in the animated series Clone High and has appeared in several episodes of the reality show Celebrity Deathmatch, where he has become the show’s unofficial champion and mascot; he frequently provided the voice for his claymated puppet, and he has also contributed a song, “Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes,” to the Celebrity Deathmatch soundtrack album.

During an interview with Rolling Stone in July 2005, Manson stated that he was turning his concentration away from music and toward filmmaking “I simply do not believe that the world is worth putting music into at this time. I no longer want to make work that other people – notably record companies – are turning into a product. All I want to do is create art.”

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star Johnny Depp is said to have drawn inspiration from serial killer Charles Manson for his role as Willy Wonka in the film.  As for Manson himself, he has indicated an interest in portraying Willy Wonka in the upcoming film.

Marilyn Manson Wife

Manson is a heterosexual individual. He was engaged to actress Rose McGowan from February 1999 until January 2001, however, the relationship ended in divorce. Later, McGowan called off their engagement, citing “lifestyle conflicts” as the reason.

In 2001, Manson and burlesque dancer, model, and costume designer Dita Von Teese began dating and eventually became a pair. On March 22, 2004, Manson proposed to Manson, and they were married in a private, non-denominational ceremony presided by Chilean film director Alejandro Jodorowsky March 22, 2004.

Von Teese filed for divorce from her husband on December 30, 2006, citing “irreconcilable disagreements.” Von Teese reportedly expressed her dissatisfaction with his “partying” and “his involvement with another girl,” which she considered inappropriate.

The “heavy boozing” and “distant conduct” of Manson were also highlighted as contributing factors to the breakup. On December 27, 2007, a divorce judgment was entered in Los Angeles Superior Court, and the parties were divorced.

The connection between Manson and actress, model, and musician Evan Rachel Wood became public knowledge in 2007.

They were apparently in an on-again, off-again romance for several years before calling it quits. During a stage performance in Paris in January 2010, Manson asked Wood to be his girlfriend, but the couple called off their engagement later that year.

Lindsay Usich, an American photographer who lives in Los Angeles, was identified as Manson’s girlfriend in the March 2012 issue of Revolver. The article made mention of new artwork by Manson, which depicted Usich. She is recognized as the photographer for the cover art of Manson’s 2012 album, Born Villain, which features a photograph of her. Later, it was revealed that the two were intimately linked with one another. “I’m newly single,” Manson stated in an interview with Beat magazine in February 2015.

In an interview with Nicolas Cage in October 2020, Manson disclosed that he had married his long-term partner in a private ceremony during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lindsay Usich was found to be the woman he married after Usich changed her social media handle to “Lindsay Elizabeth Warner.”

Lily-Rose Depp owes her ancestors a debt of gratitude to Manson.

Marilyn Manson Wife Lindsay Usich

Marilyn Manson is generating news these days, but it isn’t because of his latest record, as many people believe. The shock rocker’s ex-girlfriends, including Evan Rachel Wood, have come out to confess that he assaulted them during their romance, according to reports published earlier this month. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has launched an investigation into various allegations of domestic abuse against the 52-year-old, but he has categorically denied any and all of the allegations leveled against him by previous partners.

The public’s interest in Marilyn Manson’s wife, Lindsay Usich, has been aroused as a result of recent press reports. Discover who she is and how they came to be companions in this story.

Who Is Lindsay Usich?

Lindsay Usich, 36, is a photographer who also happens to be the wife of rock star Marilyn Manson. In a 2012 Revolver profile, Usich stated that she had a romantic involvement with rock singer Marilyn Manson. Manson is a painter, and the writer had discovered an unfinished portrait of Usich in the rock star’s apartment.

Usich is best known for photographing the cover art for Marilyn Manson’s 2012 album Born Villain, but she has also established herself as a talented photographer on her own. While she was still a young woman living in New York, her macabre photographs were published in the magazine Dazed as early as 2011.

Flaunt also disclosed that she is now working on a trademark scent as well as a capsule collection for the Los Angeles clothing company Cete, which will be released in 2020. It is handled by Ashley, her twin sister who is married to the Smashing Pumpkins’ James Iha and is in charge of the latter.

In an interview with Flaunt, Usich said, “I began dabbling in photography at a very young age, and you know, being in quarantine has had its ups and downs, as well as limits.” “I’ve been thinking a lot about how to properly capture a moment at this point in time….” In fact, being isolated has heightened my sense of nostalgia, which prompted me to explore with translating my artistic expression into a perfume.”

Plans to market the fragrance are still in the early stages; in the meantime, Usich continues to pursue her photographic career.

Marilyn Manson And Lindsay Usich Got Married In 2020

In an interview with Interview magazine published in October 2020, actor Nicolas Cage claimed that Manson and Usich had tied the knot in a clandestine ceremony during the COVID-19 lockdown. If you think Nicolas Cage is an improbable source for leaking gossip, consider this: he was also in attendance through FaceTime at the occasion.

“By the way, do you mind if I mention your upcoming wedding?

” Cage inquired of Manson during the two-way Q&A session. “You had a gorgeous wedding, which I thought was especially lovely because that’s what you were doing when you were in lockdown.” ‘Love Me Tender’ was just gorgeous, and I was able to catch a glimpse of it on FaceTime and thought it was absolutely stunning.”

“You were the only guest at the wedding who was able to attend via FaceTime,” Manson said in response. “In addition, you very definitely cock barred me from singing ‘Love Me Tender,’ since while you had indicated that you were going to sing it to us, I had already set up a karaoke machine so that I could do it myself. In the end, we both sang it, and your version was even more wonderful than mine.”

Despite the fact that there is no information on when the wedding took place, it was surely a surprise to the general public. It’s possible that Manson, who had resigned himself to being a bachelor, was taken aback by the revelation.

“I don’t think I want to be committed again,” he said in an interview with Details magazine in 2015. “I am flypaper for [insert curse here] crazy people.”

Marilyn Manson’s Former Assistant Accused Him Of Abusing Usich

In her statement, she said, “He began grooming me when I was a teenager and horribly mistreated me for years.” In order to persuade me into compliance, I was brainwashed. “I’m here to bring this dangerous man to light and to call out the numerous industries that have helped him before he has the opportunity to wreck any more lives.”

In 2018, the actress testified before Congress that she had been the victim of rape, albeit she did not identify the perpetrators of the crime. The musician “broke her” while she was on tour with Manson from 2007 to 2008, according to Dan Cleary, Manson’s former personal assistant, who tweeted the statement in September 2020.

In 2014, Clearly stated that Manson was “an abusive, violent lover” to Usich, who was then Manson’s girlfriend. In his letter, he added, “I saw her in tears, and I heard him screaming and demeaning her more often than I did not.”

Ever since Wood’s post was made public, more than a dozen more women have come forward to allege that they too had been victims of Manson’s violent inclinations. Esmé Bianco, who portrayed Ros on the HBO series Game of Thrones, was among those who were arrested. Manson was a “monster,” she told The Cut in February 2021, “who nearly wrecked me and nearly destroyed a whole generation of other women.”

A statement from Manson disputed the charges, calling them “terrifying perversion of reality.”

“Please understand that the details made public do not reflect my personal experience during our seven years together as a relationship,” his ex-wife Dita Von Teese said in a statement. I would not have married him if they hadn’t done so… Abuse of any form has no place in a relationship, regardless of the circumstances. I strongly encourage those of you who have been abused to take measures to heal and to find the strength to completely realize your own potential.”

Wood filed a police report against Usich last year, further complicating the situation.

According to her Instagram story from February 7, “On December 19, I was forced to file a police report when I was made aware of threats made by @leslee lane and @lindsayusichofficial (Brian’s wife) for conspiring to disclose images of me when I was UNDERAGE.”

Usich has not responded to the allegations of threats against her or the accusations leveled against her husband. Her surname, on the other hand, appears to be Warner on her personal Instagram, and she appears to be standing by his side while the probe continues to unfold.
