Frozen 3 Confirmed! Release Date, Cast Name, Plot & More Updates 2022
When is the third Frozen movie going to be released? The animated film Frozen was released by Disney in 2013 and became an instant hit around the world. It provided all of us House of Mouse fans with a heartwarming narrative, catchy music, and the delightful Disney princess Anna. The sequel to the critically acclaimed and commercially successful animated film Frozen was released in 2019, and ever since then, we have all been left wanting more and wondering what will come after it.
The Frozen franchise chronicles the adventures of Anna and Elsa, two royal sisters who rule the realm of Arendelle when it is frozen over. Because of Elsa’s unique ice powers, Anna and Kristoff are frequently forced to face the outside world and make sense of the mysterious magic with the assistance of their trusted companions Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven.
In the final installment of the Frozen film series, titled “Frozen 2,” Elsa finally gives in to her mystic impulses and abandons Arendelle, allowing Anna to ascend to the throne Arendelle. But despite the seemingly cheerful ‘ending,’ there are still plenty of story possibilities, and let’s be honest: it is only a matter of time before Disney announces Frozen 3. Despite the fact that a follow-up installment has not been formally announced as of yet, we at The Digital Fix are not willing to “let it go.” Here is everything that we know about the possible release date, cast, and narrative for the third installment of the Frozen film series.

Frozen & Frozen 2
When someone mentions Disney, it is nearly difficult for them not to think of the movie Frozen. In 2013, the public was given its first look at the sisters who would go on to become icons. In the first Frozen movie, we follow Anna and Else, whose voices are provided by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, respectively, as they make their way toward self-acceptance and discover the meaning of true love via their relationship with one another rather than with a handsome prince. Fans of Disney of all ages were quick to realize the appeal of the movie due to this, in addition to the movie’s delightful and dynamic supporting characters, such as Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad), Kristoff (voiced by Jonathan Groff), and Sven. Since then, there has been nothing but a meteoric rise in its prominence within the animated cinema field. Not only did the story and animation of Disney’s Frozen contribute to the film’s 16-week run at the top of the U.S. box office and its revenue of over $1 billion for the company, but the film’s soundtrack was also one of the most well-known movie soundtracks in recent history, and it continues to be one of the most well-known movie soundtracks to this day. In 2014, the animated film Frozen took home three major awards: the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature, and the Grammy Award for Best Original Song. It was impossible for the film to escape the year without being honored for its achievement.
Because Frozen was without a doubt such a great success for Disney, the pressure was clearly on for the sequel to be able to measure up to the standards set by the first film. One could conclude that viewers had no idea what to expect from a follow-up film and were therefore traveling “Into the Unknown.” The original formula that brought the film’s success is maintained in Frozen 2, which places a significant emphasis on the friendship and connection that exists between Elsa and Anna. In the sequel, Elsa develops a sense of curiosity over the source of her abilities, and she sets out to investigate the matter. This was the ideal method for contributing to the expansion of their world and increasing the stakes, both of which are goals that each sequel should work toward achieving. There is no denying that the quality of the animation, the cinematography, and the soundtrack all contributed to making Frozen 2 nothing short of a Disney staple. Even though the second movie did not have the same complete worldwide takeover that the first movie did, it is impossible to deny that Frozen 2 is a Disney classic.

Frozen 3 Release Date
Fans of Disney will be disappointed to learn that there is presently no date set for the release of Frozen 3, which is awful news. Given that there was a gap of six years between the original Frozen and the sequel, news about an updated schedule may take some time to emerge. However, there is still a possibility that Frozen 3 will be made, despite the fact that it has not been officially greenlit as of yet (yes, you read that correctly; we can all still hope).
It is now the second highest-earning animated film of all time because of the staggering box office earnings of Frozen 2, which totaled $1.45 billion around the world. The incredible success of the IP makes it quite probable that Disney will want to return to it at some point in the foreseeable future.
When talking to Digital Spy in 2019 about Frozen 2, writer Jennifer Lee also spoke about the future of Frozen 3, stating that although there are no current plans for another movie that takes place in Arendelle, there is always the possibility that we will be heading back to that kingdom in the future.
According to Lee’s explanation, “For us, this seems to be what we set out to accomplish.” “It feels like the end, but when we did the first one, the first one seemed like the end as well. We don’t have any idea.”
So, yeah, clear release date and confirmation on Frozen 3 are still out in the air at the moment, but we are cautiously optimistic that this will change – ideally much sooner than six years from now this time. Once we have more information, we will be sure to keep you updated.

Frozen 3 Summary Plot
We have no idea what will take place in Frozen 3, so stay tuned! But taking into account all of the unresolved questions and unexplored avenues left in Anna and Elsa’s journey after the events of Frozen 2, we can start to sketch out a potential plot for the film that hasn’t been made yet.
At the conclusion of “Frozen 2,” we were given insight into the history of Elsa and Anna’s parents, as well as the manner in which their deaths were depicted in the first film, which was released in 2013. It was later revealed that the two were making their way to Ahtohallan in order to investigate the origin of Elsa’s icy abilities.
We also found out that the grandfather of the sisters was the one who isolated the neighboring tribe Northuldra from the rest of the world for thirty-four years, which was the root cause of the conflict that has been raging between the two kingdoms for a number of years.
Elsa eventually becomes the “fifth spirit” and makes the decision to guard the enchanted forest in which the Northuldrans make their home after learning the truth about their mother’s true identity as a Northuldran and rescuing the tribe that had been imprisoned by destroying the dam that Arendelle had constructed in the past to make them more vulnerable.
Anna succeeded her as Queen of Arendelle since Elsa now has larger and more mystical concerns to deal with, and since Elsa has become the link between the spirit world and the human world, this practically means that Elsa has become the link between the spirit world and the human world.
Despite the fact that Frozen 2 provided us with a wealth of juicy insights about Elsa and Anna’s parents, Queen Iduna and King Agnarr, the film omitted a great deal of information concerning the nature of their relationship and left some gaps that should be filled in. We are still unsure how the two were able to come to terms with Iduna’s Northulda heritage while the kingdoms were still engaged in conflict. As Elsa continues to investigate Ahtohallan and the enchanted forest, it is highly likely that she will rediscover memories that she had previously lost and that she will be able to provide us with additional information regarding the history of her parents.

In addition, we are wagering that the mystery surrounding Kristoff’s past will be solved at some point. It is about time that Disney provided some explanations for how Sven and Kristoff came to be on their own before encountering the rock trolls, considering that we do not yet know how they came to be in that situation. It was highly odd how well Kristoff seemed to get along with the people of Northuldran, who were equally enamored with reindeer. Would it have been possible for Kristoff’s real parents to flee Arendelle before the tribe was trapped? Who knows, but it’s possible that in the future we will receive a more in-depth explanation regarding the origins of his character.
Speaking of Kristoff, the movie Frozen 2 ended with him popping the question to Anna, but we were never shown the happy couple’s wedding day. However, if we’re being completely honest, a wedding isn’t enough to justify the release of Frozen 3, is it? For a new movie to be made, there will need to be a fresh problem to solve, one in which Elsa and Anna will need to work together to find a solution.
Gad, who portrays Olaf, stated in an interview with Popculture.com that as things stand, there is peace in Arendelle. This means, in other words, that there is no need for a new installment – until a problem arises and disturbs the already happy ending of Anna and Elsa. The way he stated it was as follows: “If there is always a story worth telling, I’m sure that Jennifer Lee and the wonderful crew over at Disney animation will tell that story one day.”
However, if we are to believe what Gad has said, it will include an entirely new tale that will definitely strike us by complete surprise. The announcement of Frozen 3 is really only a matter of time at this point.
Frozen 3 Cast
It is very safe to predict that if Disney decides to make Frozen 3, the cast will be full of the iconic voices that we have come to know and love from the previous entries in the franchise. If this turns out to be the case, it will be quite exciting.
Idina Menzel will surely reprise her role as Anna’s enchanted sister Elsa, and Kristen Bell will undoubtedly reprise her role as our primary Disney Queen Anna. In point of fact, while being interviewed on Good Morning America, Bell stated that she would be very interested in participating in a sequel.
“I would do it in an instant if I could. “I have a lot of love for that family,” Bell stated. Listen, if both of us are in, what exactly are we holding out for?
It is very likely that Josh Gad will reprise his role as Olaf, the lovable snowman, and that Jonathan Groff will make an appearance as Kristoff, Anna’s boyfriend who is obsessed with reindeer.
Here is the potential cast list for Frozen 3:
- Kristen Bell as Anna
- Idina Menzel as Elsa
- Josh Gad as Olaf
- Jonathan Groff as Kristoff
In the sequel, “Frozen,” we were introduced to a large cast of new characters, including Ryder, a member of Arendelle’s neighboring tribe Northuldra, played by Jason Ritter, and Honeymaren, Ryder’s sister, played by Rachel Matthews. It stands to reason that if a fresh film was released, Anna and the rest of her crew would have the opportunity to make new acquaintances.
There is a possibility that Evan Rachel Wood and Alfred Molina will reprise their roles in Frozen 3 in the form of flashbacks if the third installment of the Frozen series decides to dive further into the history of Queen Iduna and King Agnarr. All of these guesses regarding the cast, however, should be seen as just that—speculations—because nothing has been verified as of yet. We are going to be on the lookout for any new information or hints that might come our way.
