Drake, one of the most famous rappers in the world, frequently raps about his parents on all of his albums, including the most recent one, ‘Honestly, Nevermind.’ Discover everything there is to know about his parents, Sandi and Dennis Graham, right here!
Drake, a hip-hop singer who has won a Grammy, recently startled his fans by releasing a new album that was full of dance music ditties. This is somewhat unique in terms of Drake’s musical approach. It should come as no surprise that the Canadian-born star’s seventh studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, was once again extremely successful and landed at the top of the charts. The album was released just one year after his previous attempt, Certified Loverboy, which was also successful in taking over the airwaves. Drake has established himself as one of the most popular rappers in the world in a very short amount of time spanning just over a decade. However, his professional life got off to a very different start, as he began by pursuing a career in the acting industry!
Drake was cast as Jimmy Brooks, a high school basketball player who became paralyzed after he was shot by a classmate, resulting in a life chained to a wheelchair, in the adolescent drama Degrassi: The Next Generation while he was just 15 years old. Jimmy Brooks was a character that Drake played on the show. Shortly after his appearances on the popular Canadian show, Drake published his first mix tapes, and the rest, as they say, is history in the world of music.

Sandi Graham
Sandi Graham was born on the 28th of January in 1960, and she went on to become a teacher of English as well as a florist. In the 1980s, she was in a club named Club Bluenote where she first met Drake’s father. They welcomed Drake into the world on October 24, 1986, in the city of Toronto, but they divorced when he was five years old. Sandi, who was raising Drake as a single mother, had a difficult time providing for him financially. Because she also had osteoporosis and joint problems, she spent a significant portion of Drake’s childhood confined to bed because of her illness.
“Everyone believes that I attended a private school and that I come from a wealthy family. Perhaps I’m to blame for this. According to an interview that Drake gave to Complex, “Maybe I haven’t talked enough about it, but I didn’t grow up happy.” “I did not grow up in a joyful home. It was a very difficult time for my mum. We were terribly impoverished, practically broke.”
Despite the challenges, Drake loves Sandi without condition, as evidenced by the fact that he frequently pays tribute to her in his music and during interviews. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he enthused, “My mum is a great woman.” “She has never said anything other than, ‘You know, no matter what you decide to do with your life or who you become, I will always love you.'” I’ll stand at your side no matter what.'”

Dennis Graham
It is likely that part of Drake’s musical ability was inherited from his father, Memphis native Dennis Graham, who was a drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis at one point in his career. Drake asserts that once Dennis ended his relationship with Sandi, he was somewhat of an absentee father. Drake, however, rejected his father’s claims by stating on Instagram that “my father would say anything to anyone who is willing to listen to him.” Dennis, on the other hand, has stated in the past that he believes his son uses that reason to sell records.
In spite of the back-and-forth and the semi-estrangement, it appears like the two parties have reconciled their differences and are once again on friendly terms with one another. In the song titled “From Time,” Drake sings, “I’ve been dealing with my dad, speaking of lack of patience / Just me and my old guy getting back to basics / We’ve been talking about the future and time that we wasted.”
The two are getting along so well as of late that Drake teased his father over a tattoo Dennis got of his son’s face in 2017. The tattoo was done in 2017. In the month of August, Drake made a joke about his body art image by posting it on his Instagram account. “@TheRealDennisG Drake stated in the caption of an Instagram post that featured his new tattoo, “I was just sitting here thinking why you do me like this we family.” Dennis provided a response by stating that he has had a large number of tattoo artists working on perfecting it over the years. After his humorous response, which was, “Hahaha, I had 16 people to try to straighten this out, they’re hurting me,” he then lovingly added, “I love you… and miss you.”
