On November 11, 2015, it was announced that Lee Joon-gi had been offered the male lead part of Wang So the actor confirmed his participation in the project on January 4, 2016, and the same day it was announced that IU had accepted the part of the female lead. The first script reading took place four days later

Filming, which lasted five months, began in February 2016 at the Yoseonjeong pavilion and end in the early hours of July 1, when IU filmed her last scene from episode 20. Scarlet Heart Ryeo Season 2 may be released in the mid of 2022.

 

Scarlet Heart Ryeo Season 2 Episode 1/ Story: What can be it about?

 

Scarlet Heart Ryeo tells the story of twenty-five-year-old Go Ha-Jin (IU) who is transported back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty. She then wakes up in the body of Lady Hae Soo and finds herself amongst the ruling princes of the Wang Family. However, Hae Soo ends up becoming romantically involved with some of the princes and finds herself entangled in a web of politics and the prince’s fight for the throne.

Scarlet Heart Ryeo Season’s story will be about the modern age when Wang So has short hair and wears a suit and gives Hae Soo a handkerchief. That scene was not released on TV. But IU posted at the end of 2016,  posted a picture with the message “Huh? “Handkerchief” At the time, fans were speculating that the image might be behind-the-scenes footage from an unaired scene. The scene is a meeting between Hae Soo and the present-day character of Wang So.

The second season story maybe starts from this point.
