Normal espionage thrillers are so out of date these days, so producer Adam Glass decided to shake things up with a super-powered spin on the genre in his new Netflix program, In From the Cold. Consider Alias meets Marvel.

Season one follows Jenny, a supposedly mild-mannered mother, on a holiday to Europe with her kid. But when individuals started dying, we realized there was a lot more to “Jenny” than even her own daughter suspected.

Now we’re waiting for word on the future of In From the Cold since there’s lots of room for fresh adventures in a possible season two. Grab your best wig and join us as we dissect everything there is to know about In From the Cold season two.

In From the Cold Season 2 Release Date

Unfortunately, as of May 2022, there is still no word on whether In From the Cold will return for season two (though, as you’ll see in a moment, the executives have some ideas).

This could be due to a variety of factors. It’s possible that Netflix is merely formulating plans that haven’t been publicized yet (who knows if that’s a good or negative thing). Usually, the streaming service makes decisions about show futures after giving them 28 days of audience exposure. They’re good if the numbers come in. If they don’t, it may be goodbye.

In From the Cold performed relatively well with viewers, being in the Top 10 overall most-watched on the site for little under two weeks in the UK, US, South Africa, and Scandinavian regions. So it’s difficult to predict which way Netflix will go on this one.

In From the Cold Season 2 Cast

While In From the Cold could technically operate as an anthology series, a second season without Margarita Levieva in the lead part is difficult to envisage. Jenny Franklin, and the spy she pretends not to be, plays an important role in this series.

Although nothing has been confirmed as of yet, the end of Season One hint that Cillian O’Sullivan may return, this time as a love interest in the role of Chauncey – but our super spy may very well abandon him in the interim.

Jenny killed her character Svetlana Petrova (Jenny’s own mother!) in the season one conclusion, therefore Alyona Khmelnitskaya is unlikely to return. That is, unless some pesky guilt-ridden flashbacks enter the picture.

In From the Cold Season 2 Plot

In the final episode of season one, In From the Cold shocked viewers with a stunning revelation. Jenny’s mother, Jenny’s former boss, Svetlana Petrova, turns out to be the mastermind behind the murders all along. She also masterminded her daughter’s kidnapping.

But why is this so? Svetlana appears to have been irritated when Russia prosecuted her as a traitor following Jenny’s escape, so she sought vengeance. Nevertheless, things did not go as planned in the finale, as Jenny was forced to kill her own mother, effectively ending the scheme.

But it’s not all horrible. In the last moments of season one, Jenny appears to be living a happy life again, possibly with her CIA colleague (and love interest), Chauncey.

In an interview with Looper, series creator Adam Glass revealed more about a possible season two following the premiere of his show:

“It’s now up to you [the supporters] to make it happen. Please tell all of your friends and relatives to watch it so that we can arrive on time.”

That appears to be worth your time as well because there is already a plan for where In From the Cold could go next:

“We already know where season two and possibly season three will go,” Glass explains. “There’s a big narrative to tell here, and we hope we have another chance to tell it.”

He later stated that he intended for the series to transfer to New York City for season two so that the origin story of The Whisper (aka Anna) could be explored more.

However, without our own superpowers, let alone Jenny’s logical abilities, we don’t know when a caravan will come.

Traditionally, a trailer for a Netflix series is released a month before the series premieres to generate anticipation. With that in mind, we’ll have to wait a little longer.
