Will a second season of Cursed be created? By basing its premise on the book Cursed by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, which sets Arthur aside to focus mostly on Nimue, the show reworked the mythology and flipped the famous tale of King Arthur on its head.

In legends of old, the Lady of the Lake was a minor character, but here she’s thrust to the forefront, confounding expectations with a more progressive take on Ye Olde English mythology.

“These hero stories are frequently told from the masculine perspective, from the point of view of a kid or a man,” actress Katherine Langford told Popsugar.

“What was fascinating was building that story and viewing it through the eyes of a woman who is being portrayed as a heroine. What makes it fresh and relevant now is that you get to understand the problems she would encounter as a woman rather than simply throwing a woman into a hero story.

“‘What is her own personal journey?’ we wondered. ‘What are the challenges she faces?’ ‘What are the things that make her unhappy?’ and ‘What are some of the items she can use?’

“One of the things we’ve been shooting recently is her idea that as a woman or a girl, you grow up never believing, or even considering, that you might be in a position of power. You never imagine yourself as a ruler. Therefore it doesn’t occur to Nimue when she initially receives the sword.”

Langford described the show as a “fantastical and historical work,” telling Digital Spy and other media outlets that it “will probably develop its own little genre.”

Cursed Season 2 Release Date

“Episode 10 was where I kind of felt like, ‘Oh, yeah, this world is maybe only just getting started,'” star Devon Terrell (Arthur) said. It was my favorite episode when I read it, too, because… season one always feels like: everyone has to be on board; you have to grasp it – otherwise, there’s no point saying ‘action, action, action,’ and then people are like, ‘I don’t know what happened, but I liked it’.

“I believe it all came together in the end. I thought, ‘this is wonderful,’ the way they did it. Because you’ve met the characters, and it’s as if we’re delving into their legacies or mythology.

“If there is a season two, I believe the ending is a wonderful launching pad for that, because for me, personally, the show simply gets better and better.”

“I really like where we conclude it. Keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully, everyone is watching. But there is so much room for development. It feels like we’ve only scratched the surface of what the program could be and how far it could go.”

According to Deadline, the actors were released from their contracts in July 2021 to seek other possibilities. Katherine Langford recently completed the coming-of-age film Spontaneous, Devon Terrell is filming a 2022 series called Rap Sh*t, and Gustaf Skarsgrd, aka Merlin, recently completed the Swedish film The Emigrants and is about to begin work on the TV series What Remains with father Stellan Skarsgrd and Andrea Riseborough.

Cursed Season 2 Cast

We’ll never know which cast members would have returned now that the show has been canceled.

It’s extremely aggravating for fans because Nimue’s destiny was left hanging after that horrible cliffhanger at the end of season one.

She was last seen being shot by arrows and falling into the lake below, while Merlin regained his magic with the aid of Excalibur and fled with Morgana.

“I simply hope we get a second season,” Skarsgard told RadioTimes.com before the cancellation of Cursed. “I’m mostly interested in what happens to Merlin and the other characters. Episode 10 ends on a major cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.”

Season one ended with some epic cliffhangers, but they’ll never be answered thanks to Netflix’s termination of the show.

Is Nimue still alive?

What would have occurred now that the Weeping Monk has been revealed as Lancelot and Squirrel has been exposed as Percival? Would they have joined Arthur’s crusade in a second season?

What would happen if Arthur and Morgana met?

Terrell told Harper’s Bazaar how he imagined Arthur would feel following Morgana’s metamorphosis into the Widow.

“The lovely thing about how Shalom [Brune-Franklin] plays [Morgana] is she’s such a strong character as well. This narrative has so many outstanding female protagonists that I believe it prepares Morgana to be… I’m not sure if she’ll be the most dangerous foe we encounter in the show or an ally. That’s what makes it so beautiful.

“Our most recent interaction was me pleading with my sister to become closer. My sister has transformed into an all-powerful witch before my eyes. So it’s a little strange. What I adore in the story, my character is just this human that is seeing these two extremely powerful ladies find themselves.”

We’ll never know what could have happened, and because the series was based on a single illustrated novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, there’s no print sequel to assist us.
