With its compelling story, the animated series Arcane, which debuted in November 2021, quickly became a major hit for Netflix (and one hell of a cliffhanger ending).
It even took home an Emmy in September 2022 for Outstanding Animated Program, so if you haven’t already, you should definitely add it to your watch list.
But because you’re here reading about season two, we’ll venture a guess that you’ve already binge-watched the first set of episodes and are eagerly anticipating the release of more.
Here is all the information you require regarding the future of the show.
Arcane Season 2 Release Date
Although it has been confirmed that Arcane is on the way, we do not yet know when it will return for season two.
The show’s production started in November 2021, as Netflix indicated at the time, but for the time being, all we can do is wait.
And according to Kevin Alejandro, some early season two voice acting actually occurred during lockdown (via Buzzfeed).

“It was incredibly intriguing and difficult when season two partially began during the pandemic. Therefore, they [the Arcane crew] sent a whole studio setup, complete with soundproof walls, cameras, mics, and instructions on how to set it up. I would then Zoom out of my closet and begin recording our lines for the upcoming season.”
The first season of the series took six years to produce, according to Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent, but he vowed in a tweet that the wait for a second season wouldn’t be as long:
However, it will be difficult to hasten a six-year process; as a result, please wait until at least 2023 before expecting it (at the earliest).
“We’re beyond happy about the positive response to Arcane’s first season,” the show’s co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee said in a statement. “And we’re working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second installment.”
You can anticipate that season two will have the same delivery system whenever it airs. Season one had a unique structure in which three episodes debuted simultaneously.
Yee claims (via Superpixel): “In terms of a release timeline, this was a concept we had very early on. The idea of having triplets was present when we were creating the plot. Every third episode feels like a good chunk, and the third-to-last episode usually includes some major moments.
“Having just one every week with shows that are more in the half-hour range, in my opinion, doesn’t give you much to get your teeth into. And it’s amazing how quickly you can watch it if we release it all at once.
Riot also really wanted to make this an event; they wanted to give fans the chance to gather, make predictions, and have tasks and missions from the games that you could complete while you watched.
We received the best of all worlds with this schedule. You won’t have to wait long to finish everything, and each time we release a new batch of episodes, we hope to have enough material to give you the impression that “we got to sit down together and we got to have a whole viewing experience.”
Bridging The Rift, a YouTube video that follows the creation of Arcane has been keeping us engaged in the interim. Weekly new episodes come out.
So here is the first episode if you need something to pass the time:
Arcane Season 2 Cast
The following season one voice cast members will undoubtedly return for the second season:
- Hailee Steinfeld as Vi
- Ella Purnell as Jinx (formerly known as Powder)
- Katie Leung as Caitlyn
Naturally, Steinfeld has since joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Kate Bishop, a young aspirant superhero who Hawkeye mentors. She also won praise for her performance in Dickinson, in which she took on the role of a young Emily Dickinson.
Yee told One Esports that “in many situations, the folks we decided to work with were not quite as big at the time as they ended up becoming.”
It was exciting to see how many of the talented people we have chosen to work with over the years have blossomed in a variety of projects and media, Linke remarked.

Ella Purnell, who previously dazzled audiences in Yellowjackets, was another gem. Ella Purnell voices Jinx. Yee added, “We all know who she is in the game. Ella, in contrast, “I believe was really wonderful in it.” “But we really wanted to introduce this extra dimension to her, to see this nuance and the actual human behind the big, brilliant flashy facade of Jinx.”
Fans are speculating that there might be an intriguing new addition to the series in the meantime after seeing a teaser from Arcane’s crew.
The most significant portion of the teaser is at the very end; Arcane fans are convinced they can hear the mechanical heartbeat of League of Legends champion Warwick, a part-werewolf, part-machine who has no memory of his life before being experimented on in scientist Singed’s lab. The teaser contains no new scenes, just some dialogue.
If Warwick were to be included in season two, there is no word yet on who would voice him, but stay tuned for news.
Arcane Season 2 Plot
Arcane, which is set in the League of Legends universe created by Riot Games, details the beginnings of characters from the utopian Piltover and the oppressive Zaun, notably the sister’s Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell).
The fate of Jayce, Mel, Viktor, Cassandra, Hoskel, Bolbok, Shoola, and Salo was in jeopardy in the season one finale, which was undoubtedly spectacular.
However, this means that they left a lot of storylines unresolved for season two.
Since Silco has been killed, Zaun is without a leader, and it is unclear who could assume that position. Given that Vi is the adoptive daughter of Zaun’s late leader, Vander, and that Jinx, a potential candidate, is out of control, she might have to take the lead.
At the end of the episode, Jinx created a major issue when she pointed a rocket launcher at the Council building while those inside were voting to enact a bill giving Zaun independence.
It is unclear whether any blast survivors will be able to confirm that the vote for independence was successful because of her rage, which could lead to conflict between Piltover and Zaun.
It’s also unlikely that Jinx and her sister Vi will be reunited any time soon. Vi initially desired to mend her relationship with Jinx, but it may be difficult to go past seeing your sibling fire a rocket at a crowded building.
For upcoming seasons, Reed Shannon has several plot objectives (via CBR). “I want to see some interaction between Ekko and Mel. That’d be insane… The fact that race isn’t a topic of conversation between the characters in Arcane intrigued me because of the disparity in poverty and the differences between the top city and the Undercity.
“I’d be really interested in seeing how similar-looking folks communicate. Is it the case, or is everyone simply present? Since Ekko is so intelligent, I would also want to watch them connect because she would say something like, “Oh, you could be exploited…” We could take you back to Noxus, where you could construct anything substantial. It would be INTERESTING.
It undoubtedly would. Shannon might even get to watch his dreams come true on the big screen.
Linke said to Superpixel, “We want to convey more stories. “Whether it’s a TV show or a movie, there will be more subjects we want to investigate. We didn’t explicitly state from the start that we wanted it to be a TV show or something, comparable to Arcane, in my opinion. We simply decided, “Okay, we adore these characters.” We’re going to tell you this story.
“And then, over time, we discovered that – Vi and Jinx, Victor and Jayce, etc. – we need the length of a TV show to go as deeply as we want to. However, there can be a tale that eventually takes the form of a movie. When I actually investigate this, I believe we have plans to tell a lot more tales. The answer, in my opinion, is “certainly, there will be.”
The crew revealed that Caitlyn and Vi’s connection will be further explored during a Baftas panel discussion.
“We’ve always had a general idea of how we wanted to release that story.
Season 2’s content will be a part of the larger picture that has existed throughout “said Alex Yee (via The Digital Fix).
Take us as curious! Whatever transpires, it promises to be exciting.
Speaking to Buzzfeed about what to anticipate from season two, Kevin Alejandro seems really excited about it.
You’ll be on the edge of your seat, he assured them. “You’re going to experience conflict in a way that I’m not sure is good or harmful. You’ll feel like your emotions are being yanked out of you, and you’ll say, “Oh my God!”
“You’re going to finish in that manner. It’s fantastic! One of the most awesome things I’ve ever done is this.”
