Stephen Tyrone Colbert is a famous American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television presenter. He is best known for hosting the Comedy Central satirical program The Colbert Report from 2005 to 2014 and the talk program on CBS The Late Show starring Stephen Colbert, which began in September 2015.

Colbert initially studied theater acting but became interested in improv theater while studying at Northwestern University, where he met Second City director Del Close. Colbert described in detail how he met his wife on an episode of the Late Show in 2016. He said that his ex-girlfriend wanted to get married at the time, but he wasn’t sure about the marriage. So Colbert decided to return to Charleston, South Carolina to seek advice from his mother. Colbert’s mother helped him realize that he was not interested in marriage at the time.

Back in Charleston, Colbert agrees to accompany his mother to the Spoleto Festival.
